December 4, 2014

I feel moved to tell you that we are experiencing an enormous amount of grace... more than ever before. We laugh way more than we cry. And most of the time we are laughing very inappropriately about things that should be devastating and sad like losing your hair, or going through horrible withdraw symptoms.

Today I told Lexie she looks like Casper the friendly ghost because she needs a blood transfusion and we both started cracking up.

Lexie and I were walking down the hallway of the hospital and I said, "I still can't believe we are here, doing this ... it doesn't seem real. My brain just won't accept the fact that you have cancer. It's so weird." Lexie said, "I know that's because we're having a blast." This my friends is amazing grace!

Heading to the hospital bright and early tomorrow, 6:30am. Starting the day off with a little sedation and spinal tap, chemo in the spine, blood transfusion, two IV chemo's and then 24 hours of fluids. The plan is to be discharged late on Saturday providing that the cellulitis on Lexie's leg continues to improve and she doesn't need IV antibiotics. Then 3 more days of IV chemo at home along with oral chemo for 2 weeks. Spinal taps every Friday for the next month along with chemo, more chemo and more chemo.

I should also hear some final thoughts on the "unusual" genetics test on Lexie's bone marrow and will let you know as soon as I do.

Thank you to Sara Plucinak, Breanna Wegner and Laurel Braunschweig for the mail today! We feel incredibly blessed by your support. Not to mention the joy you bring to us when receiving your letters and care packages. It's very exciting going to the mailbox!

Please pray for protection from all side effects of tomorrows chemo and procedures as well as healing of the cellulitis.

Praise God and thank Him for His amazing grace and mercy that He has given to us in abundance. What a gift it is!!!

More tomorrow when we are settled in our room.

Many hugs to you all and much love from us here in Cincinnati.
